PLA – Bio-based Plastic is our new favourite material. The PLA is made from renewable fibres extracted from crops like corn, wheat, and sweet potatoes. It behaves almost like traditional plastic, but with the crucial benefit of being 100% compostable in commercial composting facilities. At Fabelab, we love this material because it’s versatile, compostable, and best of all, not derived from petroleum.
